Brad Gibson's Biography

Brad Gibson

The founder of Gibson Systems is Brad Gibson.  Brad has been coding since he received his first computer in 1984.  This first computer was the Commodore Vic-20.  Brad spent hours and hours typing in BASIC programs from books and magazines found at the Oak Lawn library.  After high school Brad took a different path than most of his classmates.  Brad joined the US Navy's Submarine Force in 1990.  Throughout his tour of duty Brad continued to develop his programming skills. After all there is not much else to do in a 33' x 300' steel tube for 3 months at a time.

After the Navy Brad joined Information Resources, Inc as an IBM AIX Administrator and shell script developer.  Brad continued in this role until an opening in the Web Technologies group became available.  This opening came during the infancy of the Internet.  Brad's applications at this point were being developed using Perl and CGI.  Brad also lead the departments Y2K compliance review and implemented many fixes that performed as designed after the Y2K transition.

Needing a more consistent challenge and an opportunity to work more with emerging technologies such as Java,  Brad moved into the the consulting field with Sysix Technologies.  Soon after joining Sysix, which traditionally focused on hardware sales decided to spin off a new consulting centered company. This company was named Faber Consulting.  Faber focused mostly on the consulting end of technology.  One of the big strengths of Faber was the Business Intelligence methodology.  Faber was purchased about a year later by Headstrong Consulting (formerly James Martin & Company) and Brad continued with Headstrong until 2002.

A few months after September 11th many of the Faber Headstrong consultants, including Brad were let go as a cost saving measure.  Brad was given a tip by a co-worker that a company named TUSC was looking for experienced Java developers and software architects.  Brad took a position at TUSC as a Senior Consultant and is still employed at TUSC as a Technical Management Consultant.  TUSC was recently purchased by Rolta, Inc. and the company is now known as Rolta TUSC.  TUSC has grown to become one of the world leaders in the area of implementing Oracle solutions.  TUSC won Oracle's 2004 Partner of the Year award for an application that Brad worked on as lead Java Architect.
